Leadership and vision backed by diverse experience and insight on global dynamics in Africa
Based between the UK and Botswana, Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba is a renowned international civil servant who has served Botswana in various capacities including as CEO at the Botswana Export Development and Investment Authority. She has also successfully served 2 terms as the Deputy Secretary General at the Commonwealth where she was London based.
Mmasekgoa has an informed micro economic view across Africa and is able to customise her keynotes to encompass many angles given her diverse knowledge and experience. She is particularly strong in the areas of: socio-economic and political aspects throughout Africa and understands and articulates global dynamics in this area.
Mmasekgoa Masire-Mwamba has extensive management experience in the technical and the diplomatic field. Her engineering and commercial experience has played a pivotal role in informing communication technologies and businesses in addressing the broader economic imperatives. She has numerous degrees, is a board member of FNB Botswana and has served on numerous other boards including community service institutions in tourism, business civil aviation and banking.
As well as her experience in diplomatic circles she is also knowledgeable specifically in the corporate, private and public sector regional players in Africa including areas of engineering, law, aviation, finance, accounting, investment in emerging markets.
Mmasekgoa graduated with a BSc. Electronics and Physics from the University of London and complemented this with a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
She then completed a Bachelor of Law degree and an advanced Management Programme, whilst serving on various boards, community service institutions in tourism, business civil aviation and banking whilst holding down demanding jobs.
Her role at the Commonwealth was one of leadership and vision, backed by diverse experience where building and fostering relationships with Heads of Government, Ministers, Board of Governors, civil society and the private sector was key. So too was her involvement and commitment to education and development programmes and trade deployment.
