Introduction to Pieter Geldenhuys

Pieter Geldenhuys is known for his provocative and novel predictions about the future. He however does far more than predict the future; he literally guides companies to be a pro-active agent in creating the future – a true “Tour guide to the Future”. He assists companies in Exploring, Harnessing and Navigating the Future.

As public speaker, he has more than 800 radio and more than 1000 public appearances under his belt, and has spoken to audiences in more than 20 countries.

He is a renowned Futurist, Academic and Innovation expert. He has a degree in Electronic Engineering, an MBA specialising in Technology Strategy. He is adjunct faculty at North-West University and Cornell University, Ithaca, New York. He is currently busy with PhD research that focuses on Innovation, Complex Adaptive Systems and Artificial Intelligence.

He is the Founder and Director of the Institute for Technology Strategy and Innovation (ITSI), aligned with North-West University. Over the past decade, he has guided more than 3000 students and more than 100 innovation projects within large technology companies in India, the Middle East and Africa. Under his guidance, ITSI launched the 5-day “Telecom Master Class” to critical acclaim. He is planning to launch the 4-day “AI Master Class for Business Executives” during the second quarter of 2017.

He was a Technology Strategy advisor to the CEO of Vodacom between 2005 and 2011, and the previous Vice-Chair of the Innovation Focus Group at the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, Switzerland.

He believes the only way to effectively predict the future is to create it.

Pieter Geldenhuys was the previous Vice-Chair of the Innovation Focus Group at the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, Switzerland. He assists numerous post-doctorial students in Europe with their research on technology’s impact on the future.

He was also a Technology Strategy advisor to the CEO of Vodacom between 2005 and 2011. He is widely used as an impact speaker, futurist and strategy consultant by the majority of South Africa’s Top100 companies. He has addressed audiences in the USA, Australia, Switzerland, Mauritius, New Zealand, Iran, Kenya and China. He also has more than 800 National radio appearances under his belt. He holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He currently holds the title of Extra-ordinary lecturer in Technology Strategy at North-West University, where he lectured Technology Strategy course to MBA students for more than a decade.
