Bilal Kathrada is an EdTech entrepreneur, and is the founder of ITVarsity. His mission is to find innovative ways in which technology can make life better for everyone.
He is a multi-award-winning app developer and in 2022’s African Tech Leader of the Year – awarded at the African Tech Week Awards held in Cape Town.
He’s also the Founder of Xander, a company that develops educational apps for kids. The Xander apps have been downloaded more than a million times from the app stores. He is a software engineer by profession and is also an author and keynote speaker.
He has lectured at a number of notable institutes, such as the University of KwaZulu Natal, the Durban University of Technology and the University of Johannesburg.
He was featured in the book “Developer, Advocate!” by G Willenga for his work in promoting software development as a career in South Africa. He writes for a number of publications such as the Cape Argus, The Star and The Daily News. He writes about technology trends and education.
He has appeared on a number of media platforms ranging from radio, TV, print and online publications.
He has a highly active social media presence, where he speaks about Education, Entrepreneurship and Technology. He also consults a number of educational institutes and businesses on transformation of the age of Artificial Intelligence.
