Keynote

Lebogang Mokgabudi is a seasoned private sector executive bringing her financial services experience and experience leveraging technology to solve socio-economic challenges to various boards and investment committees across Africa. Lebogang is deeply committed to developing an inclusive digital economy in Africa and is currently working with the International Finance Corporation, aligned with her mission to accelerate financial inclusion and innovation in emerging markets. Lebogang is an independent specialist trustee of the Government Employees Pension Fund, appointed by the Minister of Finance, South Africa. She serves on the Investment committee, the Finance, Audit and Risk committee, the Valuations sub-committee and the advisory board. She is an Independent Non-Executive Director on the board of the Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Board, transforming the insurance sector through cell-captive licenses.

Previous executive roles held include Vice President, Fintech Africa at TransUnion, Director of Emerging Markets Digital at Visa, and South Africa Country Manager at Catalyst Fund. As the Country Manager of Catalyst Fund, which was funded by the JP Morgan Chase Foundation and the UK Aid, she invested in early-stage technology entrepreneurs who create and scale affordable, accessible, and appropriate solutions for underserved communities. As a member of the advisory board of Village Capital, she has supported mission-driven technology founders building emergent solutions for social, economic, and environmental challenges in Africa.

Lebogang holds an MBA from the Gordon’s Institute of Business Sciences and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Information Systems and Investment Management from the University of Witwatersrand. She has been recognised as the Inspiring Fifty women in STEM by the Kingdom of Netherlands and a fintech thought leader contributing to local and global fintech discussions. She delivered the closing keynote address; “The future of pension fund administration, in light of technology advancements” at the GEPF 2022 Annual conference and delivered the “Payments Modernisation” keynote address at the inaugural Absa Connected Payments conference, amongst others.
