Matthew (Matt) Pearce is a former editor of SA Sports Illustrated magazine who subsequently turned to television broadcasting in 2005, starting in both rugby and golf as a commentator and presenter. At the 2006 SAB Sports Media Awards, he was named ‘TV Newcomer of the Year’ and has since gone on to win the SAB ‘TV Commentator of the Year’ award three times, along with three SASOL awards for excellent in rugby broadcasting.

He has anchored Supersport’s coverage of the last four Rugby World Cup tournaments and has delivered live TV commentary on more than 140 Springbok test matches. He was the anchor commentator for the Springboks’ back-to-back wins at the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups.

He has also published two books commemorating the Springboks’ victories in the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan and in the 2021 series against the British and Irish Lions, and has recently acquired a license to produce a commemorative book on the 2023 victory.

As his broadcasting career has evolved, he has become a popular MC and guest speaker, appearing at events and conferences for, among other businesses, Coca-Cola, Spar, Nedbank, HSBC, Standard Bank, BCX, Sun International, MTN, SAB Miller, Build It and Vodacom.

He has also spent over 14 years in a business development role with asset management company Skybound Capital, with offices on four continents and specialising in private market investing.

With his two decades of experience in sports broadcasting and business, he has built the ability to draw on sporting experiences and their relevance and application to business environments. As such, he has proved to be an excellent conference facilitator, along with his ability as an MC or key note speaker.
