I speak about the creative industry in Africa as well as the female entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in the continent.

Keynote

My name is Nomndeni Mdakhi a marketing entrepreneur born in the small town of Newcastle in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. I was fortunate enough to move into the city of Johannesburg in 2001 to continue my education at the University of Johannesburg where I acquired a Diploma in Marketing Management.
I have been involved in a number of entrepreneurial projects including co-founding Fuse Academy, a deejaying school for girls, established in 2009 with the intention to help more females break into the entertainment industry.
In 2011, after realizing there was an opportunity to strategically help entertainers position their personal brands and leverage collaborative opportunities with corporations; I founded EDITS COMMUNICATIONS. The creative agency now specializes in helping brands whose primary target audience is youth and females to better land their key message and build connection with this audience.
After running the agency for about 5 years, I realized from my own personal experiences as an entrepreneur that there was a need to create spaces where aspiring and established entrepreneurs can connect and learn from the stories of successful thought leaders.  I established EDITS TALKS in 2016 to expose entrepreneurs to business best practice by providing access to tools and roadmaps that contribute to growth through storytelling and social listening.

The organization has attracted an incredible calibre of speakers, entrepreneurs and business leaders from across the Media, Tech, Finance, Entertainment and Marketing sectors.

In 2018 – after looking at insights from Edits Talks and realising that the primary attendee was working women looking to connect with other working women –  the platform was rebranded as AGENDA WOMEN, an online platform and offline events for women seeking to connect with like – minded women and content that helps them grow in their personal and professional lives.

In 2017, I was approached by LEAD Africa a New York based NGO with the primary mission of Empowering Africa’s future leaders through quality education and sport to be part of their board. I worked with the founder through all decisions around approaching partnerships, strategic brand positioning and communications from inception.

I currently live in Johannesburg and have been invited to speak around the world about the creative industry in Africa as well as the female entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in the continent.
