Broadcaster and Environmental Scientist

MC | Keynote | Media Personality

Simon is a broadcaster and environmental scientist with two decades of experience.

He has presented live TV or radio just about every day since November 1999 and has appeared on all of South Africa’s domestic television channels, many of the local radio stations (including being the daily science and weather correspondent for Talk Radio 702 and 567 Cape Talk). He has also appeared on several international stations including the BBC and CCTV.

He is the bestselling author of Going Green (Penguin) and has contributed to a wide range of magazines, textbooks and website blogs. He has also lectured extensively on South African Environmental Impact Assessments, Air Quality and climate change to business schools, universities and industry bodies.

On public stages, he has MC’d most of South Africa’s top sustainability awards and the launches of many corporate sustainability initiatives, including those of Eskom, Scania and Nedbank.

As a keynote speaker for a wide range of corporates, NGOs and social groups, Simon’s passion for science and the environment enables him to bring to life his love of many subjects – peppered with his delightful brand of humour and relaxed presentation style. The subjects include: South Africa’s energy mix; climate change; environmental management; air quality; bird and animal conservation; science communication; aviation safety; environmental and climate risk and,  of course, the weather (and so much more!)

Keynotes can be customised but he has a wide range of ‘off-the-shelf’ offerings.
