Siphiwe Moyo is a sought-after and highly-rated International Keynote Speaker, Facilitator & Author based in South Africa. An Adjunct Faculty member at GIBS, Wits Business School, Henley Business School and the Johannesburg Business School, he’s a seasoned HR practitioner and Organisational Behaviour specialist. POSITIVE LEADERSHIP: PUTTING THE PEOPLE BACK INTO PEOPLE MANAGEMENT

Unpredictability is very much still with us. In order to adapt successfully, organisations need to have adaptable employees. Perceived organisational support is a prerequisite for employee adaptability. Employees need to feel safe to experiment, take risks and explore the unknown. Contrary to what some may say, positive leadership does not lead to reckless optimism but rather it creates an environment that reinforce agility and adaptability.

In this talk, Organisational Behaviourist, Siphiwe Moyo shows leaders how to:

FORGING AHEAD IN A TOUGH ECONOMIC  ENVIRONMENT

In these tough times, you can either look outside the window and be

overwhelmed by what is happening in the external environment. Or you can focus within as a person/leader and ask yourself what is it you can do to increase your own personal/team performance even in a tough environment. Siphiwe argues in this talk that in these tough, turbulent times, it is much better to look in the mirror rather than outside the window. You can increase your effectiveness by simply asking the question, “Right now, at this moment, given this situation; am I focusing on something I can control, or am I obsessing over something I can’t control?”

LEADING IN TIMES OF CRISIS

The ever-changing global landscape brings with it uncertainty about the future of work, which often leaves employees feeling bewildered. And, as the pace of change rapidly increases, many have already reached their capacity to absorb and respond to their environment. In non-turbulent times, a balance of push and pull strategies is often enough for a leader to get results through others but in times of crisis a little more is required. In times of crisis, leaders need to communicate more not less. Leading in turbulent times can tear leaders apart. Hard times can become even lonelier for leaders, since they must project a positive but realistic spirit. Siphiwe shows leaders research based strategies on how to get that balance between being candid and still projecting a positive spirit right.

LEADING SELF: GETTING RESULTS THROUGH YOUR OWN  PERSONAL EFFORT

In this keynote Siphiwe argues that leading other people is not  very complicated. There are three ways to get results through  other people: 1. You can inspire them through a compelling  vision 2. You can induce them incentives 3. And if all else fails, you can just threaten them. The toughest person you will ever  have to lead is you. Leadership Attribution Error has the  potential to be a problem in the workplace. Too much  emphasis on the role of leader means that followers may  abdicate responsibility for their motivation levels, beliefs,  values, behaviours and ultimately performance. Though he  highlights factors that may affect employee performance, in this keynote, Siphiwe teaches audiences how to lead themselves. 

I-ADAPT: IMPROVING EMPLOYEE SELF-MOTIVATION, SELF-ADAPTATION AND SELF-REIVENTION

Studies show that individual employee adaptability is negatively related to career anxiety and is an antecedent to organisational adaptability.
